Regular Visits

Avoid relapse with regular visits.

Avoid relapse with regular visits.

Once your problem has resolved or you have reached maximum improvement you will have two options.

Option one: Some choose to continue on with regular visits to help maintain their improvements and catch any problems before they become significant.

Option two: Some choose to wait for any future visits until they have another problem.

Either way it’s your decision, we will help you with any questions you may have so you can make a choice that is best for you. A maintenance visit will be much the same as your regular visits have been. Dr. Rickels will want to know how you’ve been doing, if you’ve had any significant changes in your life be it physical, mentally, or emotionally.

About Maintenance Visits

A maintenance visit will typically take roughly 10 minutes with the doctor. We don’t get offended if you don’t come back to see us. At the same time you need to keep in mind that when you have a problem the five worse words are, “Maybe it will go away.” Typically it won’t and the longer you wait to come in the worse it will get and the harder it will be to correct.

Sometimes your problem will appear to have been resolved and your condition looks stable when you are released from care but you get a recurrence of your problem soon after you were released from care. If that occurs don’t hesitate to call and come in. Your visit will proceed much the same as your recent visits. Depending on the severity of the problem Dr. Rickels will determine if a re-examination is necessary.

If so your visit may take a little longer than usual. If you haven’t been in for some time or if you have a new problem that needs to be addressed you will likely need a re-examination and possibly new x-rays. Dr. Rickels will also do a complete history of your problem and want to know about any changes in your life and health since the last time you were in. In this situation your visit may take 20-60 minutes depending on the nature and severity of your problem.

Please inform us when you call about the nature of your visit so we can try and schedule the appropriate amount of time. If at any time your contact information or insurance changes please inform us. We will want to update your information and copy your new insurance card.
